Stakeholder Consultation on Drug Serialization and Traceability in India – 3rd March 2017

ICRIER and RxGPS co-hosted a day-long, intensive stakeholder meeting, to begin an ongoing dialogue around serialization and traceability in India and around the world, allowing stakeholders to discuss the Serialization and traceability issues and explore solutions, as well as to review systems being tested in other markets. This meeting aimed to increase coordination of stakeholders in order to better understand India’s serialization and reporting requirements and implementation of such requirements within the global market, to identify and coordinate responses to specific challenges related to implementation of India’s serialization and reporting requirements, and address potential impact on trade caused by confusion related to export requirements and lack of harmonization among global economies. This includes a detailed discussion of serialization requirements in other countries, such as the United States and the European Union. DAVA database, Global standards for serialization, Effective implementation of serialization and traceability requirements were amongst the key discussions at the meeting. The speakers at the meeting included Ms. Susan C Winckler, Chief Risk Management Officer of Leavitt Partners, and Advisor to RxGPS, Dr. Sharmila Mary Joseph, Member Secretary, NPPA, Dr. Eswara Reddy, Joint Drug Controller, CDSCO, Mr. Matt Sample, AmerisourceBergen, Dr. Madhur Gupta, Technical Officer- Pharmaceuticals, WHO India, Mr. Arjun Guhathakurta, Novartis, Mr. Senthil S.
