Vasudha Wattal

Vasudha is a Research Associate at ICRIER and has been associated with the Health Policy Initiative since its inception in 2014. At ICRIER, she is involved in the drug regulatory project and under the same she has coauthored a paper on ‘Drug Quality and Safety Issues in India’ (working paper 310). She has coauthored a number of columns covering the research of the aforementioned paper which were subsequently published in some of India’s leading financial dailies between October to December 2015. In the second phase of the drug regulatory project, she has been involved with a study on – ‘International cooperation for registration of medicines: Opportunities for India’. She has also contributed opinion pieces and journal articles on various issues such as drug pricing and air pollution. Previously, she has worked on competition issues in India’s healthcare sector while interning at the Competition Commission of India. Her research interests lie in the fields of economics of health, industrial organization and development economics. Vasudha is an economist by training, and an M.Phil. Degree in the subject from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, where her dissertation was focused on pharmaceutical pricing in India.
