International Seminar on Tackling Chronic Diseases in India 23 May 2016 (Monday),
Friday, 29th April 2016
Silver Oak Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi 4:30 to 7:30 pm

Dear Sir / Madam,

As you know, 21 percent or 3.4 million of the global premature deaths due to non-communicable diseases happen in India, the highest in the world. A country with global aspirations cannot afford the loss of human life at such a scale, not to talk of the associated economic costs for households, communities and the nation at large.

ICRIER established a Research Program on Tackling Chronic Diseases in India under its Health Policy Initiative in 2014, and has come up with two research papers to explore the possibilities of preventing such human and economic losses. These papers are based on extensive desk research and interactions with close to 200 stakeholders in four Indian states (Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan) and four countries (USA, Canada, Japan and Sri Lanka) to identify best practices and propose actionable policy recommendations.

We feel honored to invite you to join senior policymakers from the Centre and states / UTs, representatives of international organizations, industry, civil society, academia and the media at this event, and look forward to your valuable insights on tackling the burden of chronic diseases in the country.

Kindly send us a line of confirmation immediately at rajat.kathuria@icrier.res.in.

Looking forward to your valuable participation, we thank you in anticipation for the same.

With warm regards,

Rajat Kathuria
Director & Chief Executive
